Welcome to Oregon Coast Realty in Brookings Oregon.Our broker, Eldon Gossett has been selling real estate in Curry county since 1980. There were 800 commercial fishing license registered at the port of Brookings and a logging truck crowned with logs drove through town every 10 minutes. That was before the spotted owl. Except for the cut backs in those two industries not a lot has changed. The big changes are the addition of four stop lights, a new Fred Meyer shopping center and the building of class 5 and 6 houses in the area. Oregon has 8 classes of houses, a class 1 being comparable to a converted garage with a few old cars parked outdoors on blocks and a class 8 being a mansion found in Lake Oswego. Since Brookings was a mill town, most homes were class 3 for the employees and a few class 4 for the bosses. Today life is primarily the Art Walk and the Chetco Pelican Players with a lot of participation from the community and concerts in Azalea Park. Sports are also big and the Brookings-Harbor high school Bruins are the best in the state. Our Senior Activity Center and Library create a lot of activity for the local citizens.
